No.8 November, 2009

Corker of an Event - Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair

Boasting more than 520 exhibitors from 34 countries and regions, this year’s wine fair has more than doubled last year’s inaugural wine fair exhibitor numbers and area.

Exhibitors come from six continents. Fair highlights include the first Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition, where both Australia and New Zealand were prominent winners.

Australia had the largest number of exhibitors at the inaugural Wine Fair in 2008, and this year we almost doubled our size again to have the largest number of exhibitors totaling 65 wineries from across the breadth of Australia.

Australia will be featured as the "Partner Country" in the HKTDC Hong Kong Wine & Spirits Fair 2010.

To cement this agreement the Australian Government's trade and investment promotion agency, the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) signed an agreement on 6th November to launch the partnership program at next year's Fair.

Australian Consul-General, Mr Les Luck, who witnessed the signing ceremony, commented "this is another sign of Australia's recognition of Hong Kong’s growing reputation as a prime international wine market".

The New Zealand Pavilion was well represented with a strong presence under the New Zealand Winegrowers which included around 40 NZ Wineries.

HK International Wine & Spirits Fair will be held again in November 2010, to participate in this event contact HKTDC Sydney Office. Fair website: http://hktdc.com/hkwinefair
