Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect opens
Following the successful implementation of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect and the Mainland-Hong Kong mutual recognition of funds arrangement, the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect was launched on 5 December. Hong Kong and overseas institutional and individual investors can trade eligible A-shares listed in Shenzhen directly through the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. Meanwhile, qualified Mainland investors can trade eligible shares listed in Hong Kong through the Connect. Read more about the story here.
Asian Logistics and Maritime Conference
As a flagship event of the Hong Kong Maritime Industry Week, the sixth Asian Logistics and Maritime Conference, the biggest event of its kind in Asia, took place in Hong Kong on 23 and 24 November. More than 2,000 industry leaders from 34 countries and regions attended the Conference, discussing topics such as China’s “Belt and Road” initiative, and the latest development in cross-border e-commerce.  More than 100 exhibitors showcased logistics, shipping and maritime related solutions and services.   Business of Intellectual Property Asia Forum
Over 2,500 intellectual property professionals and industry leaders met at the sixth Business of Intellectual Property (BIP) Asia Forum held in Hong Kong on 1 and 2 December. Some 80 speakers shared their insights under the theme “Intellectual Property in the Innovation Era”. The BIP Asia exhibition featured more than 90 exhibitors, including the World Intellectual Property Organisation, large international technology corporations, top-tier research centres and universities and IP services providers.   Business of Design Week demonstrates outstanding creativity in Hong Kong
Business of Design Week 2016 (BODW), the largest event of its kind in Asia, was held between 28 November and 3 December. It gathered over 60 top design professionals and executives from around the world to share their insights and stories, and explore new ideas and trends in design, business technology and brands. With support and participation from the entire design industry, this year's BODW hosted 13 sessions focusing on a range of themes, with over 20 major and concurrent exhibitions and events and attracted over 100,000 participants.  Read more about BODW2016 here.
  Top golfers vie for glory at 2016 UBS Hong Kong Open
126 top golfers from over 40 countries and regions, supported by over 46,000 spectators, took part in the Hong Kong Open at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling on 11 December. Australian Sam Brazel produced a stunning approach shot to the final hole to set up a brilliant birdie to become the champion. Read more about the tournament here.
