Darwin: Australian gateway to Hong Kong & China?

Darwin although is the smallest and most northerly of the Australian capital cities, its proximity to Asia makes it an important Australian gateway to countries such as Indonesia and East Timor. The latest 'Operation Stimulus' is boosting the Territory's construction industry and creating more jobs for Territorians. Darwin can be the Australian gateway to Hong Kong & China!

Subsequently, HKTDC held a cocktail networking in Darwin on the 19th November 2009 to assist local businesses to expand and source in Hong Kong/China. The evening featured Ms Bonnie Shek, Director of the HKTDC Australia/NZ who outlined the opportunities in doing business with Hong Kong/China. To assist in forming a stronger business connection between two countries, Hong Kong Australia Business Association (HKABA) was also outlined during the evening.

The event was attended by over 35 local business people from various industries who showed great enthusiasm in business opportunities with Hong Kong and China. Over half of the participants were also expressed interested in becoming the HKABA committee members. The event ended with a relaxing and enjoyable cocktail networking for all participants.

Our next Outreach event will be held in Christchurch, New Zealand in February 2010. If you would like to receive more information, please contact Mrs Yin Robards, our Sydney Office via email yin.robards@hktdc.org or sydney.office@hktdc.org or call (02) 9261 8911.
