"Perfect Life" featured at Brisbane film festival

"Perfect Life", a Hong Kong-Mainland film production, enjoyed the international limelight at the recent Brisbane International Film Festival.

The screening was sponsored by The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO), Sydney. It was screened on July 31 at the event with its director, Ms Emily Tang, attending the festival as special guest.

Addressing the audience at the screening, the Director of HKETO, Ms Lorna Wong, said the film industry was well established as the flagship of Hong Kong's creative industries.

She said the industry contributed significantly to Hong Kong's vibrant city life and also groomed creative talent for Hong Kong and the region.

Ms Wong said Hong Kong was one of the world's most dynamic film centres and the Hong Kong Government was strongly committed to developing its film industry.

"Apart from allocating more than HK$300 million (A$50 million) to the Film Development Fund to support the movie industry, we continue to leverage on our strong ties and Hong Kong's bilateral free trade agreement with Mainland China to help our movie industry access the rapidly growing market there.

"So far, the achievement from this cross-border collaboration has been very encouraging.

"Last year, seven of the top 10 earning domestic films at the Mainland box office were Hong Kong-Mainland co-productions. By extension, Hong Kong also offers an unrivalled partnership opportunity for overseas production houses seeking to explore the Mainland market," said Ms Wong.

"Perfect Life", a Hong Kong-Mainland co-production, is a compelling example of contemporary film making. The film fuses documentary and fiction, and weaves together the stories of two women living in rural China and in Hong Kong.
