The Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office and the Sydney Film Festival (3 – 14 June 2009) are proud to present yet another Hong Kong box-office hit – Red Cliff – directed by action maestro John Woo, with heart-thumping performances from Tony Leung Chiu-wai (In the Mood for Love) and Takeshi Kaneshiro (House of Flying Daggers).
A 2008 production, Red Cliff is set in the twilight of the Eastern Han dynasty when China is torn apart into different feudal states. The film is a lively reconstruct of the well-known battle of Red Cliff. The story centres around Cao Cao (Zhang Fengyi) as the scheming prime minister to the Emperor. Cao leads a massive Northern army to quell the rebel warlords of the South. |
