Hong Kong shares vision with NZ for new harbour waterfront

Hong Kong Secretary for Development Carrie Lam was invited to Auckland by Auckland Mayor Len Brown to attend the Sea Edge Symposium for Waterfront Development Leaders held last month on 28-29 March.

The Symposium brought together a diverse group of international senior officials and executives to exchange waterfront development ideas and experiences.

Hong Kong is a world-renowned waterfront city and Mrs Lam presented the vision for Hong Kong's revitalisation of Victoria Harbour. She also shared with the conference the Government's recent efforts and plans to create a vibrant and attractive waterfront, leading the discussion in the session on "Turning Vision into Strategy".

Mrs Lam also visited Waterfront Auckland, established to lead the strategic approach to development across Auckland's waterfront, and met with Chief Executive John Dalzell for an update on initiatives.

Mrs Lam's visit was further expanded upon by Chief Executive Donald Tsang's visit to the Auckland waterfront during his visit to the Wynyard Quarter with Deputy Mayor, Cr Penny Hulse in early April.
