Kai Tak cruise terminal tenders invited

Tenders are invited for operating and managing the new cruise terminal at Kai Tak. The old airport at Kai Tak was relocated to Chek Lap Kok in July 1998. The relocation has offered a good opportunity for major development on the harbourfront in the metro area.

The Hong Kong Government is funding the design and construction of the cruise terminal, and will lease it to a private company using a 10-year management and operation contract. Satisfactory performance by the winning contractor may see the term extended for a further five years.

Site formation works started in November 2009 and the terminal building works started in May last year. All works are on schedule.

The terminal building and the first berth, which can accommodate the world's largest cruise vessels, will come into operation in mid-2013. The second berth will be commissioned in 2014.

Tender documents and further information are available on the Hong Kong Tourism Commission's website: www.tourism.gov.hk/english/ctkt/tender.html

Enquiries should be directed to the Tourism Commission by fax at (852) 2801 4458 or via email to cruise_terminal_enquiry@cedb.gov.hk. The deadline for submission of tenders is noon, June 24, 2011 (Hong Kong time).
