  HK tops rankings across the globe  
     
  Hong Kong's urban planning sucessfully marries green spaces and urban developments.Many of you will not be surprised that yet again, Hong Kong has been named the world's freest economy. The Heritage Foundation recently released its 2013 Index of Economic Freedom which gave Hong Kong the top spot for the 19th year running.

Many of you will be less familiar with Hong Kong's ranking in a growing number of international comparative surveys.


For example:

  • The Economist Intelligence Unit ranked Hong Kong as the best city to live in 2012 due to its urban sprawl.The Economist Intelligence Unit ranked Hong Kong as the best city to live in 2012. The survey – which featured 140 countries – said Hong Kong is a compact city which has managed to maintain its natural heritage, create a dense network of green spaces and enjoy extensive links to the rest of the world.
  • Hong Kong ranked third-best globally for “human freedom” according to the Fraser Institute. It topped well-established democracies as the United States and United Kingdom. 
  • It also comes to no surprise that Hong Kong is number one when it comes to shopping. According to the Globe Shopper Index, Hong Kong has the best shopping environment out of 25 cities across the world.
  • Hong Kong ranked number one out of 60 countries in Ernest & Young’s Globalisation index which measured five indicators of globalisation: Openness to trade, capital movements, exchange of technology and ideas, labour movements, and cultural integration. The ranking is further indication that Hong Kong maintains its reputation as Asia’s world city.
2013 has just started, so we expect Hong Kong to top many other records and ranking – watch this space!
