  Hong Kong Week in Sydney opening reception cum movie night

Some 300 guests gathered at the Art Gallery of New South Wales to attend the opening reception cum movie night of 2010 Hong Kong Week in Sydney.

Addressing the event (September 3), the Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) (Sydney), Mr Steve Barclay said the inaugural Hong Kong Week would foster closer ties between the two cities which are similar in many ways.

  Tougher emission reductions broached

Hong Kong’s efforts to tackle climate change has taken another step forward with the government proposing a target of reducing carbon intensity by up to 60% by 2020 and driving down overall carbon emissions.

The goal was outlined in a consultation paper issued (September 10) on Hong Kong's climate change strategy and action agenda. A three-month public consultation will be held on the issue.

  Hong Kong to develop as an innovation-led knowledge-based economy

The Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) Sydney, Mr Steve Barclay said that the film production industry helped to propel Hong Kong's further development as an innovation-led knowledge-based economy.

Speaking at a reception for the Hong Kong on Screen in the OzAsia Festival in Adelaide on September 20, he said that the freedom of speech and expression in the city had nurtured the growth of vibrant creative industries with film production being the flagship.
