The event was attended by over 40 delegates from the Australian and Chinese Media.

Association of Coffee and Tea of Hong Kong (ACT) held the First Hong Kong KamCha (Hong Kong Style Milk Tea) Competition in 2009. It is now an important event on the culinary calendar in Hong Kong. In August 2010, ACT will cooperate with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in organizing the International KamCha Competition 2010 (Hong Kong Style Milk Tea) with full support from Kampery Group. This unique competition will be held in Hong Kong, Southern China, Eastern China, Central China, Macau, Canada and Australia bringing the special taste of Hong Kong style milk tea to the world.

The aim of the event is to promote the unique food and beverage culture of Hong Kong style milk tea. From its humble beginning’s in the 1940’s and 50’s served in the local street café’s to its world wide popularity, it has now become the latest food frenzy trend in Sydney and throughout Australia, with many HK Style Milk Tea House’s opening up. This latest phenomenon brings with it more than just a name. It’s a passion and heritage and a strong nexus of meanings for Hong Kong people.

The International KamCha Competition 2010 (Hong Kong Style Milk Tea) – Sydney, Australia will be held on the 24th of July, 2010 at Golden Century from 2pm onwards. A selected panel of tea experts has been chosen to judge the competition, where the overall winner will fly to Hong Kong courtesy of Cathay Pacific to compete in The International KamCha Competition 2010 Final to be held on the 14th of August, 2010 during the HKTDC Hong Kong International Tea Fair concurrent with the HKTDC Food Expo.
