  Deloitte chooses Hong Kong for new tax division  
     
  Global professional services firm Deloitte has launched its new Asia Pacific International Core of Excellence (AP ICE) in Hong Kong, highlighting the city's status as the Asia’s leading business centre.

The new operating division will allow Deloitte to provide a new level of integrated, international tax management solutions to Asia Pacific based companies and multinational companies investing in the region.

Covering 15 tax jurisdictions with a team of 21 senior tax professionals, the new division is expected to bring more Asia Pacific regional accounting business to Hong Kong, and help expand Deloitte’s new regional office to cover more tax jurisdictions.

Deloitte's Co-Leader for AP ICE, Ms Lili Zheng, said: "We conducted an extensive evaluation on the choice of location for our new Asia Pacific International Core of Excellence and Hong Kong was chosen for its strategic location in the Asia Pacific Region and as the gateway to and from Mainland China.

"We expect significant consulting business opportunities from the growing number of Mainland companies investing abroad, as well as businesses coming into or expanding in the region. We deem Hong Kong as a perfect base for us to assist these companies to develop in the region.

"Hong Kong as a major international financial and commercial centre, together with the fact that there is no foreign exchange control, offers all the benefits for us to operate this new regional centre of excellence for tax management and to better serve the needs of our clients."

Fellow AP ICE Co-Leader, Mr Alan Tsoi, added, "We also hope that the presence of AP ICE will further enhance Hong Kong's reputation as the regional talent centre for professional services, as well as being an attractive place to live and work."

The Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, Mr Simon Galpin, warmly welcomed the establishment of AP ICE in Hong Kong.

"The launch of Deloitte's AP ICE not only shows continued confidence in Hong Kong as a leading international financial centre, but also reinforces Hong Kong as a strategic business centre offering access to consulting business opportunities from regional and multinational companies developing their business into Mainland China and Asia Pacific," Mr Galpin said.
