 Looking back on my first full year as Director of the HKETO , 2011 has given me much satisfaction. All the chapters of the Australia and New Zealand Business Associations have held a wide range of successful business, social and cultural events. InvestHK, HK Trade Development Council and the HK Tourism Board have all had considerable success in promoting investment, trade and tourism. We have also enjoyed a visit to Australia by HK's Chief Executive, successfully launched our Facebook page 'Hong Kong in Australia and New Zealand', and seen many community organisations start to use the function room facilities here in Hong Kong House, Sydney. My thanks go out to all my staff, colleagues and friends who have worked so hard during the year.
2012 is already shaping up to be a busy year. The Year of the Dragon will see a couple of Hong Kong's performing arts groups touring Australia and New Zealand, Hong Kong business promotion road shows out to several of the regions, and a focus on the Maori business community in New Zealand. Following New Zealand's recent elections, we hope to develop a much closer relationship with New Zealand`s parliamentarians. 2012 will also herald a new Chief Executive in Hong Kong, elections for a new Legislative Council, and the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
