The old meets the new

It was an absolute pleasure seeing some old faces amongst the many new faces at the Media Drinks on day 3 of my new role with HKETO. The drinks were held at the beautiful fifth level function room at Hong Kong House and was a fitting venue for the bulging number of attendees.

Everyone was so very welcoming and so very receptive of my new appointment that it almost swept me off my feet!

Many of the journalists had, or are, working with Hong Kong and through my chats and laughs with everyone in the room I was reminded of the beauty and the excitement of living in such a wonderful city. Many of the journalists there were also re-establishing contacts with other colleagues and there were many sentences starting with "...do you remember the time we...". It was a good feeling to be able to reconnect people and share in their stories.

This was the second of the Media Drinks held by HKETO and looks to be establishing quite a strong following with many people turning up at the door after hearing it was on and hoping to attend. Of course, our doors are always open and it was wonderful to have the room alive with discussions of future plans and activities and the networking for all was invaluable!

The Drinks were also an important time to acknowledge our Facebook contest sponsor, Cathay Pacific, who had also kindly sponsored the second of our contests, with the winner Kason Tong, on hand to be formally presented with his winning ticket by HKETO's Director, Steve Barclay.

Steve Barclay's vision of holding casual drinks that enhanced networking opportunities were realised and have set a precedent for many more in the coming years.

The venue on its own is amazing. The attendees acknowledged its true worth as being central to everyone and of course how beautiful Hong Kong House is, let alone the sweeping views off the balcony over the Queen Victoria and Town Hall buildings - truly the heart of Sydney city. And with that, emphasising Hong Kong House's accessibility to all.

I'm looking forward to the next Drinks in the new year as I know all those present at these are and for more photos of the event, please see our facebook link:
