 After a year or so where the Hong Kong domestic political scene has been dominated by election campaigning … for the District Councils, the Election Committee, the Chief Executive, and the Legislative Council … the results are all in and the positions filled. Whilst the political balance remains similar to this time last year, many familiar faces have departed the scene and many new personalities have emerged. We will watch with interest, and report, any significant changes that impact on our friends in Australia and New Zealand.
Nonetheless, it is true to say that Hong Kong’s representation overseas, and its international trade, economic and investment policies have not been subject to much debate during the last year, and are unlikely to dominate the headlines in the coming year or two either. The HKETO Sydney and our colleagues in InvestHK, HKTDC and the HKTB will continue our efforts to promote excellent relations with Australia and New Zealand.
