  2012 Business Awards Official Launch  
     
  The Hong Kong-Australia Business Association (HKABA) NSW Chapter, an initiative set up by Hong Kong Trade Development Council officially launched their annual Business Awards for 2012 on Thursday 21 June at Emperor's Garden Restaurant in Sydney. Guests of Honour of the Business Awards Official Launch were Mr. Steve Barclay, Director of HKETO, Government of the HKSAR and Mr. Huang Yongheng, Vice Consul for the Economic & Commercial Office of the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Sydney.

The award is designed to provide recognition and incentive to NSW individuals and companies who strive for excellence in all aspects of international trade between NSW and Hong Kong SAR/China. The Business Awards has become a prestigious event within the NSW business community since its inception in 2000.

Entrants will be competing in the following categories: Export of Goods/Services, Import of Goods/Services, Business Development, and Business Excellence. In addition to these awards, there will be a Grand Winner inaugurated by the judging panel. The Judging Panel will be chaired by The Hon. Sir Laurence Street AC KCMG QC, with representations from the NSW Government, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Austrade, and HKABA NSW Chapter 2012-2013 Platinum Sponsors.

Mr Peter Sinn, President of the HKABA NSW Chapter added "Our Business Awards has grown to be one of the biggest in NSW over the past 12 years. The HKABA NSW Chapter held its Yumcha Lunch following the Business Awards Official Launch. The event featured appealing dim sum after the Media Launch.
 
     
     
  12 July YPA event: Organize Your Finances for the New Financial Year – Tips to Save and Invest for the Young Professionals  
     
  Given the busy lives that young professionals lead, their own personal finances tend to suffer. In this new financial year, Jonathan Wu, the Head of the Distribution at Premium China Funds Management, and Barry Porter, National Manager, Intermediary relationships at CBRE Residential Projects presented a number of strategies to assist with getting your finances in order and to plan for a future to financial security.

The event was proudly sponsored by Hantec Markets Australia and was held on 12 July 2012 at Emperor's Garden Restaurant in Sydney. Jonathan's focus was from a financial planning perspective including saving, tax and discipline while Barry discussed property strategies for young professionals looking at buying their first property. The evening was a great opportunity to not only equip the attendees themselves with the skills to financial success, but also to network with other young professionals.
 
 
     
     
  27 July Silver Jubilee Celebrations 2012 Food and Wine Appreciation Dinner  
     
  The Hong Kong-Australia Business Association NSW Chapter Silver Jubilee Celebrations 2012 Food and Wine Appreciation Dinner held at the Le Montage in Sydney on 27 July, 2012, to celebrate the 25th Anniversary. More than 200 guests include politicians and representatives from sponsors were invited. Guests of Honours of the night included The Hon. Philip Ruddock MP, (Member for Berowra and Shadow Cabinet Secretary) and The Hon. Matt Thistlethwaite, Senator for New South Wales. VIPs included Mr. Steve Barclay, Director of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, the Government of the HKSAR; Ms. Bonnie Shek, Director of Australia and New Zealand, Hong Kong Trade Development Council; Mr. Huang Yongheng, Vice-Consul for The Economic and Commercial Office of the Consulate - General of China in Sydney and Cr. Ernest Wong, Deputy Mayor, Burwood Council etc.

HKABA NSW Chapter President Mr. Peter Sin gave a welcoming speech which remarks the achievements in the past 25 years, he also presented certificates of appreciation to the sponsors to thank them for their supports. In his speech, Peter pointed out that the Chapter established in 1987 and in 25 years the association acts as a platform to enhance the development of business between Hong Kong and Australia through different channels. Peter Sinn expressed his thanks to the past NSW Chapter Presidents' efforts to achieve this. He also pointed out that NSWChapter had won eleven awards in past six years, which he thanked all the Committee and members for their efforts.

Peter specially thanked the former executive committee members, Mr. Tony Cheng, the Managing Director of Tony Cheng & Associates Property Consultants, for his generous support to the event.

The six cuisines of the night were arranged by Emperor's Garden Restaurant accompanied by Australian wine.

Finally, Ms. Belinda Wong, Chairman of Programme Sub Committee of HKABA NSW Chapter gave a speech to the special event.
