  Hong Kong House explodes with colour and activity!  
     
  The laser light show launched on the facade of Hong Kong House in Sydney Thurs 28 June 2012.Hong Kong House in Sydney (80 Druitt Street) was ablaze with colour and activity as celebrations for the 15th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region took place.

At the official launch of celebrations on June 28, Steve Barclay, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, said, "On 1st July 1997, Hong Kong returned to Chinese sovereignty, after more than 150 years of British colonial rule and in the past fifteen years, under the principle of 'One Country, Two Systems', Hong Kong has enjoyed what many thought was impossible - a high degree of autonomy and close economic ties with Mainland China.

Director of HKETO, Steve Barclay, enjoys the laser light show on the facade of Hong Kong House Thurs 28 June 2012."In 2011, our trade with Australia increased by almost 70% from 1997 with Australia becoming a significant wine exporter to Hong Kong since the elimination of duties on wine in Hong Kong in 2008. In 2011, Australia was our 4th largest source of wine imports, after France, the UK and the US."

Mr Barclay said, "Hong Kong looks forward to the next 15 years and beyond, not as just another city of China but as the most open, free and international city in China as well as the best gateway to China, and from China to the rest of the world."

Parliamentary Secretary to the New South Wales Premier, Marie Ficarra MLC and Director of HKETO, Steve Barclay at  the 15th Anniversary Launch held at Hong Kong House. The 15th Anniversary celebration activities included "Light up Hong Kong House" laser light show on the façade of Hong Kong House in Sydney, free for all to view from dusk-midnight from 28 June – 2 July , Hong Kong Cinema - featuring Hong Kong movies from 28 June – 1 July, and 'Australia: through Hong Kong eyes' art exhibition by the Yi-shu Association, with free entry for all 29 June – 12 July.

Steve  Barclay launches 'Australia: through Hong Kong eyes' art exhibition as part of the 15th Anniversary festivities at Hong Kong House. Activities to look out for will include the Hong Kong Children's Symphony Orchestra's concert tour of Australia and New Zealand starting from 19 July 2012, covering cities in both Australia - Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne and in New Zealand – Auckland and Wellington. The 'dupliCITY' multimedia exhibition by artist Alex Ma at Hong Kong House, Sydney will also be featuring from 25 Aug – 8 Sept 2012.

The Hong Kong Australia Business Association – both the Western Australia Chapter and the Queensland Chapter – will be organising dinner events to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong SAR. Not to be outdone, the Hong Kong New Zealand Business Association will be organising a Hong Kong Festival in Auckland soon.
