  Foreword

My office has been busy preparing for the 15th Anniversary Celebrations of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region coming up on 1 July.

There are different events happening around Australia and New Zealand. These include the tour of the internationally acclaimed Hong Kong Children's Symphony Orchestra who will spearhead many of our 15th Anniversary celebrations. I would encourage you to check our website closer to the time to see activities close to you.

Just after Easter the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Mr Donald Tsang, paid his first visit to New Zealand in five years.

Accompanying the Chief Executive throughout the three day visit, it was obvious that he possessed a genuine, warm affection for the people of New Zealand. Shortly after their arrival, Mr and Mrs Tsang were given a traditional Maori welcome, complete with a warrior's challenge. It was followed by a very moving, heart-felt ceremony.

At another function, a local primary school choir brought tears to the eyes of the Hong Kong delegation. The meetings with Ministers and business groups were, of course, very important, but it is moments like these that will stay in the memory forever. Thank you, New Zealand.
