  HK airport still world's best

Hong Kong International Airport has again been named World's Best Airport in the annual passenger survey by Skytrax - the eighth time since 2001.

It was declared Best Airport Asia and Best Airport Dining in the survey.

Leading air transport research company Skytrax said the plaudits were based on 11.38 million online survey questionnaires collected between June 2010 and March 2011 from air passengers representing more than 100 nationalities, covering more than 240 airports worldwide.

The survey evaluated travel experiences across 39 different airport service and product factors, including check-in, arrivals, transfers and departures at the gate. Hong Kong airport was noted for the overall ambience of its terminals, its ease of use, signage, dining, shopping and connectivity to the downtown area.

Airport Authority Chief Executive Officer Stanley Hui said the accolade shows the airport continues to meet and exceed passengers' expectations, and thanked the 65,000 staff for their efforts.

Singapore's Changi and South Korea's Incheon airports were second and third place.

Hong Kong has won nearly 40 best airport awards from various international and regional organisations since opening in 1998.
