  LOCAL EVENTS IN REVIEW  
     
  NATIONAL ONLINE RETAILERS ASSOCIATION – 7th May 2015  
     
  Hosts:  The National Online Retailers Association, Retail Miss Fix It, Nancy George and Hong Kong Trade Development Council.  
     
  The first seminar held with the National Online Retailers Association, was launched with an introduction from Paul Greenburg, Founder of NORA outlining their activities for the year ahead.  
     
  Toni Wade presented HKTDC’s services and offered and overview Hong Kong’s role and benefits. Cloris Long presented the HKTDC’s  latest online sourcing platform Small Order Zone offering a demonstration to the audience on how to place an order via the SOZ, including the secure online pay way.  
     
  Nancy Georges presentation highlighted the challenges facing today’s retailers and tips for small business.   
     
     
  Common Threads – Textiles Fashion Industry Association – May - Sydney & Melbourne  
     
  The Textiles Fashion Industry Association educational seminars aim to equip Australian fashion designers to gain access to the Hong Kong export markets.  
     
  The events held in Sydney and Melbourne featured guest speakers from the TFIA, the Export Council of Australia, together with Rob Morrison from TradeStart discussing entry strategies, while Nick Henderson of AsiaLink discussed the cultural nuances to be considered when entering a new market.  
     
  Toni Wade of the HKTDC discussed Hong Kong as a fashion hub and the opportunities for designers in this dynamic market.  
     
  These seminars will now be followed by a pitching event, where local designers compete for a place in the upcoming Mission to Hong Kong.  
     
  A panel of industry experts will determine the final delegation with those chosen receiving further one-on-one mentorship in preparation for the Capabilities Mission. Applications to pitch will officially open in June 2015, Pitch Days will be held in July 2015 with mentorship for the successful delegates to take place in August.
