Hong Kong ranked world's 2nd most competitive economy
Hong Kong is the world's second most competitive economy, up from fourth place last year, according to the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) World Competitiveness Yearbook 2015. Read more about the story here.

     
  Mutual recognition of funds arrangement between the Mainland and Hong Kong
Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission and the China Securities Regulatory Commission signed a Memorandum of Regulatory Cooperation related to the mutual recognition of funds arrangement between the Mainland and Hong Kong on May 22.  Under the arrangement, qualified Mainland and Hong Kong funds may offer directly to retail investors in each other's market after obtaining authorisation or approval under streamlined procedures.   Hong Kong Government welcomes Ministry of Finance's plan to issue RMB sovereign bonds in Hong Kong in 2015
The Ministry of Finance announced on May 12 its plan to issue Renminbi (RMB) sovereign bonds totalling RMB28 billion in Hong Kong this year, of which RMB14 billion will be issued to institutional investors, central banks and monetary authorities outside Mainland China on May 20 and RMB14 billion will be issued to institutional investors and Hong Kong residents in the second half of the year.   Cheung Chau Bun Festival
The annual Cheung Chau Bun Festival in Hong Kong attracts thousands of people and this year’s festival was no exception. While the bun scrambling competition was cancelled due to inclement weather, a colourful parade was held during the festival and plenty of steam buns - a symbol of well-being - and items made in its shape filled the island’s stalls.
