HKABA-SA member awarded Order of Australia

Mr Francis WongHKABA-SA Chapter congratulates Mr Francis Wong OAM for being awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) at this year’s Australia Day Awards.

The Order of Australia is an order of chivalry established on 14 February 1975 by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, to recognise Australian citizens and other persons for achievement or for meritorious service.

Francis Ki Yuong Wong was born in Brunei, the eldest of 12 children. When he decided to migrate to Australia his parents were dismayed that he would leave the family. But he felt "like a big bird in a small cage" and the businessman yearned for more.

Drawn to Adelaide for the open spaces and the arts culture, he settled, and "never looked back".

Awarded an OAM for services to business and to the community, Francis serves on numerous boards, is the Chairman of the Council for International Trade & Commerce in South Australia (CITCSA), and is a valued advisor for the Hong Kong Australia Business Association’s SA Chapter.

Francis’ work in areas of tourism, trade and promoting all things South Australian makes a valuable contribution to our state and we are both proud and honoured to have Francis as part of the HKABA in South Australia.

We congratulate Francis Wong on this fine accolade.
